After missing the deadline repeatedly, the Games committee faces the wrath of the Union Home Minister who visited the venue yesterday. P Chidambaram is reportedly unhappy with the security arrangements and wants the security drill to be completed by Sept 7, another project already delayed by a month.
Chidambaram said the Games officials will have to make up for the delay by September 15 following which there will be another round of visits by the ministry officials. Talking about intelligence reports on terror strikes, he said:
“There have been clear attempts by inimical agencies abroad to reactivate Sikh terrorist elements, forge a nexus between LeT and terror groups like Babbar Khalsa International and Khalistan Zindabad, force and mobilise their resources for planning terrorist violence in Punjab and elsewhere in the country.”
Also, US intelligence agencies haven’t received any concrete evidence of terror attacks, but it has warned its citizens of visiting India during October.
